Our cabinet process
Why the prep takes time
Kitchen cabinets get touched, wiped and bumped every day, and they collect grease you can’t always see. A finish that lasts depends on getting every step right.
Remove & label
Doors, drawer fronts and hardware removed and labeled so everything returns to its place.
Degrease & sand
Surfaces cleaned of kitchen grease, then scuff-sanded so primer can grip.
Prime
A bonding primer suited to the cabinet material, with small dings filled first.
Finish & cure
A durable cabinet-grade finish, then time to cure before reinstalling doors and hardware.

Colors homeowners ask about
Every kitchen is different, and lighting changes how a color reads. These are common starting points we can sample with you.
Two-tone kitchens, with a darker island and lighter perimeter cabinets, are another popular option.
After painting
Painted cabinets keep curing for a few weeks. During that time, use gentle cleaners and soft cloths, and avoid harsh scrubbing.

Cabinet painting questions
How long does cabinet painting take?
Cabinet painting takes several days because each step needs time: cleaning, sanding, priming, finish coats and curing before doors go back on. Your estimate includes a timeline for your kitchen.
Do I need to empty my cabinets?
Yes, please empty the cabinets and drawers being painted. We protect countertops, floors and appliances before work begins.
Can I change the hardware?
Yes. Painting is a good time to switch handles and knobs. If the new hardware uses different hole spacing, let us know before we start so the holes can be filled.
Will the wood grain show through?
On open-grain woods like oak, some grain texture usually shows through paint. If you want a smoother look, ask about grain filling during your estimate.
